🏗️ Who We Work With on New Builds
- Builders: We slot into your standard pre-handover schedule. Same week as final clean and PCI is ideal — we don’t get in the way of any other trade.
- Owner-builders: We coordinate directly with you and your nominated electrical contractor. We can supply the alarm hardware ahead of time so it’s on-site when wiring goes in.
- Developers: Volume pricing available for 3+ homes. We block-book installs across multiple sites, single invoice per project.
- Project managers: Single point of contact, certificates issued in your QA folder format on request.
🎯 Why Engage a Smoke Alarm Specialist on a New Build?
Most builders rely on their electrical contractor to “tick the smoke alarm box” during fit-out. That works fine — until it doesn’t. The most common new-build smoke alarm problems we get called to fix after handover include:
- Alarms installed but not interconnected — fails QLD 2027 standard
- Ionisation alarms used instead of photoelectric — fails the standard
- Missing alarms in bedrooms or hallways — fails placement rules
- No compliance certificate issued at handover — buyer can’t move in or sell
- Alarm brand/model not legal under QLD law — needs replacement at owner’s cost
Engaging a licensed smoke alarm specialist on the build means none of that happens. The home leaves your hands fully QLD compliant, with paperwork buyers can actually use.

❓ New Build Smoke Alarm Installation FAQ
When in the build schedule should we book the smoke alarm install?
Final-fix week. Once the ceilings are in, the electrical contractor has run cabling, and the home is otherwise close to handover. We can be in and out in 90 minutes for a typical 4-bedroom home.
Do you supply the alarms or does our electrician?
We supply, install and certify — that’s what the $120 per alarm covers. If your electrical contractor has already supplied alarms, we can install and certify those instead at a reduced labour-only rate.
Can you certify alarms installed by another electrician?
Yes. We attend, inspect every alarm, test the interconnect, and issue a Form 24-ready certificate under our QLD Electrical Licence #92217. We’ll flag any compliance issues before signing off.
Do you offer volume pricing for developers?
Yes — from 3+ concurrent builds we offer volume pricing and a single project invoice. Call 0488 791 582 to discuss.
