Contact Brisbane Smoke Alarm — frequently asked questions
How do I get a quote for smoke alarm work in Brisbane?
The fastest way is to call us or use the contact form on this page. To give a fixed price up-front (not a window) we just need three things: your Brisbane suburb, the number of bedrooms, and the number of storeys. From that we can quote at $120 per alarm fitted — typical 3-bedroom single-storey is $480–$600, 4-bedroom two-storey is $720–$840. No callout fee for confirmed bookings, dated AS 3786 compliance certificate included, and we book a fixed time slot.
What information should I have ready when I call?
Have your property address (suburb is enough for a phone quote), the number of bedrooms, the number of storeys, whether the property is owner-occupied, rented or being sold/leased, and the age of any existing alarms if you know it. If you're a landlord or property manager, the property manager's contact and whether the tenant is in residence helps us schedule. For commercial premises, the NCC building class and approximate floor area lets us confirm whether you need residential AS 3786 or AS 1670.1 work.
What are your business hours?
Standard business hours are Monday to Friday 7am–5pm, with Saturday morning bookings available on request. We respond to phone calls and emails during business hours, usually within an hour. For genuine emergencies (alarms beeping continuously, post-fire replacement, urgent pre-settlement compliance), see our emergency smoke alarm service page — we can often get to you the same day. Connex Electrical Pty Ltd is a small specialist team led by owner Darren, so you'll deal with someone who actually knows the job.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept bank transfer, credit/debit card and cash. Most residential customers pay on the day of install via card or transfer. Commercial customers, real estate agencies and property management portfolios are set up on monthly invoicing with 14-day terms. We provide a tax invoice with our ABN (37 665 474 537), QLD Electrical Licence (92217) and a line item for every alarm — useful for your insurance, tax and conveyancing files.
Do you service my Brisbane suburb?
We cover the full Brisbane metro — Brisbane City, Northside (Moreton Bay), Southside (Logan), Bayside (Redlands), and West (Ipswich-adjacent). If you're roughly within a 50km radius of Brisbane CBD, the answer is almost certainly yes, with no callout fee. Common suburbs we work in regularly include Albany Creek, North Lakes, Redcliffe, Wynnum, Carindale, Cleveland, Mansfield, Forest Lake, Indooroopilly and Chermside. If your suburb is outside the main metro, call and we'll confirm before booking.
Can I just ask a question without booking?
Absolutely — and we encourage it. We're rated 5★ on Google with 30+ verified reviews precisely because we'd rather spend five minutes on the phone explaining the legislation than push someone into a job they don't need. If your alarm is just chirping with a low-battery warning and you're handy enough to swap it, we'll tell you. If your situation is genuinely complex (NDIS SDA portfolio, NCC Class 9c facility, sale settlement tomorrow), we'll book accordingly.
